Dr Alastair Coupe

Over the past 25+ years at Pfizer, Alastair has been fortunate to have worked on a wide range of drug products and drug delivery technologies including IR and MR tablets and capsules, parenteral, oral liquid products, inhalation and paediatric dosage forms. He has also presented regulatory packages at EMA, FDA and PMDA (Japan). Until recently, Alastair was responsible for the Formulation and Process Design group, but over the last 12 months he has taken responsibility for remediation of the Pfizer portfolio that have a potential nitrosamine risk. 

Externally to Pfizer, Alastair recently led the Innovate UK cross industry/academia collaborative R&D project “Accelerating paediatric development through smart design and predictive science” and was part of the cross-sector team that successfully secured £28 million funding for the National Formulation Centre.

Alastair is an Honorary Professor at both UCL and Nottingham University and a Management Board member for the University of Nottingham/UCL CDT in Advanced and Targeted Therapeutics. He is also a member of the Academy for Pharmaceutical Sciences Regulatory Focus Group Steering Committee, a Member of EPSRC Physical Sciences SAT and until recently a Member of the RPS Pharmaceutical Sciences Expert Advisory Panel.
