The drug is loaded into the centre of the hydrogel system, which is then swallowed as a pill. Once in the stomach, the hydrogel expands and is retained, with the drug core at its centre. Once fully swollen, the drug elutes off our system — after which the hydrogel breaks down and is excreted naturally, just like food.

OMP GEL is a superporous hydrogel that holds your drug in the stomach. Once fully swollen, the drug will begin eluting off our system — drip-fed to the duodenum, a highly absorptive site within the proximal gastro-intestinal tract. The hydrogel delivers both small and large molecules, letting each drug’s own profile play out in the body.

OMP GEL is built on a dual-polymer hydrogel that expands on reaching the stomach and remains in situ for days before safely breaking down. The drug is held within the hydrogel in the stomach for a tunable window — 1 to 7 days — so each drug’s own elution profile can play out in the body.
