Volunteers needed

Volunteers needed to develop a new product to help people living with obesity in partnership with Obesity UK

What is the purpose?

We would like volunteers from all over the UK to contribute to the design of a research trial to test a new product designed to aid weight loss through increasing satiety and reducing hunger. We need your help to make the study as acceptable to potential participants as it can be.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for adults (<45 years) with an experience of excessive weight or obesity. For the initial sessions, we would like to include people with a BMI of 30-40 who are not currently on any long-term treatments for weight-loss. Unfortunately, we are unable to include people who have had bariatric surgery. Here’s a link to calculate your BMI: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-weight/bmi-calculator/

What will it involve?

We have planned two online sessions to outline the plan for the research trial and to gain opinions on our ideas so far from a range of people with different viewpoints and backgrounds.

What are the benefits?

In addition to helping to develop the new product for people living with obesity, we can offer an £25 voucher for reading patient information documents in advance of the meeting, the 1-hour session online, and feedback email.

If you would like to find out more and/or take part in an online session (Monday 10th January 1830-1930 or Thursday 13th January 1830-1930), please contact us by emailing elanor.hinton@bristol.ac.uk
